# Attendance Checks Twice Per Class
## Beginning of Class Attendance Check
Attendance is taken twice throughout class. We have a beginning of class check-in, often times followed by a quiz. So being late affects your attendence as well as your quiz score, because taking the quiz late lowers your grade in the class as well.
# Be Attendant!
During class, I'll be checking in on you. Keep your Walkie Talkies tuned to channel 2. I'll occasionally stop by to see how things are going, so be prepared to show me your progress. Make sure your group responds when contacted; it's important to stay reachable.
## End of Class Attendance Check
Attendance is taken again 45 minutes before class ends, and everyone gathers to share their work either in Studio A or occasionally in classroom 84-105. The only exception for missing this session is if you have a late-scheduled session. Ideally, everyone should attend, and together we quickly dismantle setups afterward. The sharing typically lasts 30 minutes.
When scheduling sessions in Studio A or elsewhere, please finish by 9:00 so sharing can begin on time. Attendance will be recorded promptly then.
# Don't Be Late
If you're late for one attendance check in a day, you receive 1 strike. If you're late for both checks, you get 2 strikes for that day.
# Absences
Regular attendance and class participation are essential. Students absent for two weeks or more during this 16-week course will receive an F. If absent without a prior excuse, medical documentation is required unless arrangements are made well in advance. **While unexpected situations occur, understand the commitment you made by enrolling.** If you decide to drop the course, you must do so officially through Admissions and inform your instructor.
