When you have a collection of clips that you’d like to import into ProTools, there is a specific method to bring them in efficiently. We will start by utilizing the Import Audio Dialog to manage this process. ## Import Audio Dialog Open up the Import Audio Dialog.  ![image.png](image-827a14ad-ba4c-42d8-beb9-29df956b588c.png) Select the items you wish to include in your project. If you choose "Add," the files will be linked or referenced in the project folder without creating duplicates. I highly recommend using the Copy/Convert button. This ensures that the files are saved within the project directory, which is beneficial if you need to copy the project folder to a different hard drive, as the files will be included in the new directory. The Convert option will appear only if there is a difference in sample rates between the files you are importing and the session sample rate. It is important to convert whenever possible to ensure that the audio doesn't speed up or slow down when imported. ![image.png](image-32c1b66c-34c5-4cc6-960e-8de5e6635ccb.png) ## Select Destination Folder for Copied/Converted Files A popup will now appear, asking where you would like to copy or convert the files. Simply select the default option, and the audio files will be saved within the "Audio Files" folder in your ProTools project directory. ![image.png](image-c967d6d8-de22-4be0-b49c-88e92ba95ffc.png) ## Import Audio Files to Clip List When importing the audio files, you can choose for ProTools to automatically create a new track for each clip that you've selected. However, for the workflow we are currently exploring, we are interested in accessing our clips from the clip list. ![image.png](image-e976b08a-0aae-47e1-8d3e-048ffc37f58d.png) ## Accessing Files Via the Clip List You can now access the imported clips in the clip list drawer on the right-hand side of the ProTools interface. If you cannot see the clip list, it means it is minimized. ProTools often makes interface elements very small, so to show or hide the clip list, click the minimize/maximize button. The minimize button appears to the left of the clip list if it is open, and the maximize button is in the bottom right of the ProTools window if the clip list is minimized. See the screenshot below for an example. ![image.png](image-c525d2c4-d57d-411c-85f0-592382d82814.png) Alternatively, you can go to View > Other Displays > Clip List. ![image.png](image-2733238a-05d6-4ebb-9ac7-658140f112fb.png)
