We are now prepared to record a performance on our track, and this process involves two distinct steps.
## Step 1 - Arm the SPECIFIC track for Recording
To begin, we need to enable recording on the track, which signals ProTools that we intend to record on it. We call this **_arming the track for recording._**
Your interface should resemble the screenshot below once you have armed your track for recording; the red recording arm button on the track will be flashing:

## Step 2 - Arm the TRANSPORT for Recording
The transport section is where you can control playback and recording in your project. You can use it to start and stop playback or initiate ProTools to begin recording on the project timeline.
### Making Sure Transport is Visible
The transport section might not be visible by default. Please watch the video below to learn how to ensure it's visible.

## Enable Transport to Record
Once the transport is visible, we have the option to enable ProTool's transport for recording, indicated by its flashing status.

It's important to note that this step is not mandatory, as we can also begin recording directly.
## Step 3 - Starting the Transport
When we enable the transport for recording in advance, pressing play or the spacebar will initiate the recording process.
# Arming and Starting The Transport to Record in One Click
To enable transport for recording (Step 2) and start the transport for recording (Step 3) at the same time, you have several options: press Control+Spacebar (in red below), F12 (in green below), or 3 on the numeric keypad (in blue below). This approach combines two steps into one, but you'll still need to complete Step 1 first, which is arming/enabling the individual tracks you want to record.

## Recording has Commenced!
You can confirm that recording is active when you observe the transport moving, and a red box taking over the screen, indicating that recording has started. To halt the recording process, simply press the spacebar or click the stop button on the transport.
