My process involves taking every piece of physical media, and separating out the content of these devices into my media server. There is no need for a lot of storage in today's day and age, as remote backup can and always be the best long term solution for your data, as otherwise space will surely fill up, even if you pay for a backup service like 200 GB/month of google drive or iCloud storage. Therefore, when ingesting the data it is useful to segment it into different parts. For example: - media - photo - video - documents - word documents - coding projects - - creative projects, from: - notation software - DAW - media creation software All of these have separate protocols for being ingested, especially if they want to usefully combine with other data.
