1. Collect Cables and Clips
1. Determine number of cables needed
2. Determine types of clips and shock mounts needed (small, medium, large, shock mount, custom). See the case for direction, if possible.
3. Determine if pop-filters are needed
2. Collect Microphones
1. Check that the microphone case is closed and move it with care, using both hands to handle.
2. If there is a blue piece of tape on the microphone case, do not use. It is out of service.
3. Set up mic stand
1. Align front leg in the direction that the microphone will be, with the two back legs providing support
2. Attach sand bags to base of mic stand to provide extra support
3. If stand is not functioning correctly, take it out of circulation by placing it in the shelf in the corner of the 84-105 classroom
4. Secure mic clips on stands.
1. Make sure that the clip is seated correctly before twisting the rod before fastening the clip into place.
2. Avoid twisting the mic clip.
5. Connect the cabling to the wall panel
1. Make sure that phantom power is off before making any connections.
6. Dress microphone cables
1. Wrap the cable around the mic stand to create a fail safe
2. Neatly wrap excess cable and place bundle underneath the microphone stand.
7. Attach microphones to mic clips
1. Connect microphone into clip and into cable.
2. If using a ribbon microphone, make sure to keep microphone cover on while moving it around to prevent damage to the ribbon.
8. Reduce tripping hazards
1. Verify that cables are correctly wrapped to reduce tripping hazards
2. Add gaff tape or cable covers on the floor to further reduce possibility for tripping
3. Notify Control Room upon completion
4. Notify the control room upon completion of the microphone setup so that phantom power may begin to be applied.
10. Make Adjustments
1. Be ready to make mic adjustments as requested by the control room
2. Use the hearback to gage adjustments live in the tracking room
## Closing Job
1. Tear down and return microphones to the mic locker.
2. Wrap mic cables.
