Audio Effect Inserts on Instrument Tracks

You’ve already used inserts to add instruments to instrument tracks, but now we are using inserts to process audio that’s already been generated. An instrument track generates audio for the first time, while audio effect inserts process this audio from the second insert slot onwards.

Audio Effect Inserts on Audio Tracks

For audio tracks, the audio data is already generated, so you can add inserts in any slot you prefer.

Insert Order

Audio inserts in ProTools are processed from top to bottom. This means the audio is first processed through the topmost insert, and then the output of this insert is passed into the input of the subsequent insert below it.
