One of the primary challenges in any audio-related course is acquiring source material for manipulation. This challenge becomes even more pronounced during online classes when students can't easily share physical materials. Here are some resources:

Free Resources

  • The Cambridge Music Technology Multitrack Library

    • The Cambridge Multitrack Library stands out as an exceptional resource because it offers a curated selection of multi-tracks spanning various genres, and the best part is that it's entirely free. 
    • I recommend starting with a mix that includes a tutorial. Click this link for such mixes. 
  • Home Studio Corner - Mix Together

    • Run by Joe Gilder, this site offers a series called "Mix Together," providing different multitracks for training purposes, along with tutorial videos for comparison and learning.
  • Telefunken Live From The Lab

    • This site offers a great collection of multitracks, all sorted and ready for use, primarily recorded with Telefunken microphones. The audio files are available in WAV format and were recorded at 24bit/48KHz sample rate​​.
  • Lewitt Audio

    • Known for their microphone technology, Lewitt Audio runs music challenges and mixing contests. Even after contests end, the multitracks are available for download, providing a great opportunity to practice mixing skills​​.
  • PureMix

    • This site provides high-quality audio files and focuses on professional recording, producing, mixing, and mastering. It's an excellent resource for learning from experienced engineers, though not all tutorials come with exercise files​​.
